How to make WordPress mobile theme similar to desktop
Now a days mobile devices are used more than traditional computers for web browsing. Mobile web browsing has been growing fast, while the desktop’s share of web traffic has steadily decreased. It is easy to view websites on a handy tiny screen compared to huge desktop monitors so over half the population is turning to phones and tablets and If you don’t have a good theme then you are losing your mobile audience. Many plugins are available for responsive mobile themes in WordPress site, some of them are free and some are paid. If you are paying for any mobile theme before purchasing make sure that it displays appropriate on any screen size.
In my case, I have activated free mobile theme couple of months ago, but I really don’t like the view of mobile theme over my mobile. I love my desktop view and wanted this theme to be implemented over my phone as well. But it doesn’t look really good especially when you have ads on your site, it is kind of mess up to see desktop theme over phone. So the first question that came into my mind was how to make wordpress mobile theme similar to desktop ? and I started working on it.
In this article, you will be able to know how to implement desktop view with WordPress website on phones / tablets / mobile devices, etc. It is pretty much easy, you just need to do some changes in your Header file. Here are few steps that are required to perform this task.
STEP 1 : Open your WordPress dashboard in WordPress setting and scroll down to option Appearance > Editor.
STEP 2 : Search for your Header.php file among the files in right side and click to open it.
STEP 3 : Now go up and down to look up the below highlighted code or code that is identical to it and remove it. Make sure to update your file by clicking on UPDATE button right below the file.
Remove this code from your header.php but before removing, it is recommended to copy and paste whole header.php in a word file and save as backup. In case if you do something wrong you have backup with you.
“<meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, initial-scale=1, maximum-scale=1, user-scalable=no”>”
It doesn’t change the desktop view. Your desktop view will remain same. Now open your site on mobile or refresh it and yes you got the view exactly like your desktop with your ads. This is awesome if you do not have a satisfactory mobile version of your website or just rather prefer that the desktop version be viewed on all operating systems.
